Vernal Fall

Vernal Fall is one of the many powerful waterfalls within Yosemite National Park and a place you have to visit. It is only a two hour return hike to the fall, but the steep uphill climb makes it quite a challenge. This was especially true for me since I had just completed the six hour trek to the top of Yosemite Falls.
The hiking trail winds through wooded land alongside the Merced River. At this point, the river is a fast flowing and boulder filled whitewater torrent with many small rapids and cascades. As you can see, the short detour off the main trail paid off with one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen. Beyond the rushing water of the fall, you can even see the massive shape of Half Dome standing in the distance.
