This beautiful row of partially submerged willow trees is located on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, Glenorchy. The famous Willow Trees and lake are a popular spot for visitors in Glenorchy and the lake itself has been used as a location for a number of films including The Lord Of the Rings and The Water Horse.

 

The scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful and something I’d wanted to capture for a while so on my last evening at Glenorchy I set out to shoot the famous willow trees. I hadn’t been here for long before the sun dipped behind the mountains and the colour of the sky began to turn from a light shade of pink to this brilliant pink colour, covering everything around in a pink glow. I couldn’t believe my eyes, this colour was like nothing I had ever seen before in any sunset or sunrise.
