We have all seen pictures of Monument Valley but being there is incredible, the views are breathtaking. This is where the legendary director John Ford shot many highlights of his great western movies. John Wayne starred in nearly every one of those films, cementing this landscape as a symbol of the American West.
Since those early days, the valley has served as the backdrop for numerous other movies. The list of films captured here ranges from National Lampoons Vacation and 2001: A Space Odyssey to Forrest Gump and Back to the Future III. Standing here, you realize that while the movies are famous, the actual landscape is the true star.
