I arrived at Evandale Park to shoot a sunset image of the city skyline, little did I realise what was going to unfold as the sun set behind me. The sky over the city turned a deep orange that looked like a fire in the sky, with the light radiating outward as if it were spreading across the clouds. It had the kind of intense energy you see in a moving flame, lighting up the whole skyline and making the air itself feel like it was glowing.
The lake was dead still, showing a reflection of the buildings and that fiery sky like a perfect mirror. Because the water was so calm, it created a double image that pulled all those orange tones right down into the foreground. This shot captures that balance where the quiet of the lake meets a sky that looks like it is actually radiating heat.
