Surfers Paradise Trails
Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia
After a night of shooting under a perfectly clear sky I ended up with this star trails image over the Surfers Paradise skyline. This final piece is a labor of love that is made up of over 300 individual long exposure photos. I spent over three hours on location capturing the rotation of the stars to ensure the trails were seamless and prominent against the city lights.
The contrast between the glowing energy of the Gold Coast buildings and the silent motion of the stars above creates a unique perspective of this iconic coast. It took a lot of patience to sit with the camera while the world was quiet, but seeing all those frames come together into one final shot makes the effort completely worth it. This print captures the passage of time in a way that the naked eye simply cannot see.
