Located just down the road from Stovepipe Wells Village in Death Valley are the Mesquite Sand Dunes. The dunes consist of beautiful near white sand and is named after the Mesquite trees that provide habitat for wildlife in the area.

 

After dark the sky really came alive with the moon and stars so I wanted to capture the sky with one of the dead Mesquite trees standing where the dunes began. I took a few shots of this tree but this one really stood out with the way the headlights from oncoming cars provided a back light on the tree. The glow orange glow in the distance is from a small neighboring village called Furnace Creek.
