Hopetoun Falls
The Otways, Victoria, Australia
Hopetoun Falls is one of the most iconic spots in the Otways and it is easy to see why. The water drops 30 metres into a dark pool at the base surrounded by some of the most beautiful lush greenery in Australia. While it is a popular place to photograph I still find myself wanting to go back again and again. I joked at the time that I would have loved to see even more water flowing but you can’t always have everything.
The day I visited was slightly overcast with bits of rain which is actually the perfect light for a rainforest. It brought out all the vibrant greens in the ferns and made the moss covered rocks really pop. This image captures that fresh damp feeling of the forest where the light is soft and every detail of the landscape stands out. It is a piece that brings a sense of calm and the natural beauty of the Victorian wilderness into any room.
