Elabana Light
Elabana Falls | Lamington National Park, Queensland, Australia
I arrived at Elabana Falls early in the morning to catch the first light as it touched the upper canopy. The trees above the water began to glow with a soft radiance that filtered down into the gorge. By using a long exposure, I was able to capture the heavy flow of the falls as a silky smooth veil of white water moving over the ancient rocks.
In the foreground, the scene was grounded by a large mossy rock where patches of sun dappled light broke through the leaves to illuminate the green textures. A leafy branch overhanging the frame caught a light breeze, creating a soft and blurry glow that added to the dreamlike quality of the forest. The mix of the steady water and the dancing light on the moss captures the true spirit of this rainforest sanctuary at dawn.
