Over The Rise

Getting to this vantage point on the Giants Causeway was a challenge, requiring a careful crossing over the jagged basalt rocks as the ocean surged nearby. The effort was rewarded with a spectacular view from the edge of the headland. In the foreground, the heavy waves of the Pacific crashed against the dark stones, sending salt spray into the air and showing the raw power of the coast.
On the horizon, Cook Island sat silhouetted against a brilliant orange sky. The remaining light of the day caught the clouds, turning them into soft streaks of pink that drifted over the water. It was a moment of high drama where the dangerous energy of the crashing waves met the quiet beauty of the morning sky. Standing on those ancient rocks, I felt the true scale of the landscape as the sun disappeared behind the coast.
