Loch Ard Gorge

Only a short drive from the Twelve Apostles sits the incredible Loch Ard Gorge. This site is named after the famous Loch Ard shipwreck where fifty two lives were lost on a single night in June 1878. While the history is heavy, the beauty of the gorge today is absolutely spectacular.
If you want to avoid the massive crowds at the main lookouts during sunset, this spot is just as good if not better. The gorge is incredibly picturesque with clear blue water and a golden sandy beach tucked between towering cliff faces. I was lucky enough to have this entire place to myself for a short moment and the stillness was something I will never forget.
