Lifeguard Tower Startrails
The Spit, Gold Coast
Last year I captured an image of a lifeguard tower on the Gold Coast with the Milky Way and a rising blue moon above it. I knew this location was worth revisiting for a startrails shot and the clear skies on this night was the perfect opportunity. It took a lot of patience but I came back with over 240 shots to create this reverse startrails image.
By layering hundreds of individual photos together I was able to reveal the movement of the night sky in a way you can never see with the naked eye. The final image shows the stars circling right over the tower. It is a long process to get everything lined up but the end result gives a completely different perspective of the coast.
