The first location on my trip to New Zealand is one of the South Islands must see spots. Church of the Good Shepherd is a small, stone church situated on the shores of Lake Tekapo in New Zealand. The beautiful blue lake and the Southern Alps make a stunning background to one of the country’s most photographed churches.

 

On the morning I shot this photo there was a nice pink sky just before sunrise however clouds blocked the sun making the photos look a bit flat. Just as I was about to pack up my gear the sun broke through a small gap in the clouds for a brief moment and the most amazing light streamed across the front of the church for just long enough to capture this shot. I think the light and shadows in this shot really brings the image to life.
