The moonless and cloud free night skies recently made perfect conditions for shooting star trail images and with the sky being so dark you can practically get these types of star trails shots anywhere.

 

This is one hour of star trails over Surfers Paradise. For this image I wanted the reflection of the city in the water to be as clear as possible so I shot just as the tide was about to change. The red and white light trails in the water are from a passing boat.
